Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee is dedicated to fostering economic development by organizing activities and programs for chapter members and the community. These initiatives aim to enhance understanding of the financial system and promote economic stability.
Educational Development
The Educational Development Committee aims to make a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community by inspiring, motivating, and supporting their goals and accomplishments. Delta Sigma Theta has three national youth enrichment programs designed to promote the development of young girls and boys. These include, but are not limited to, Delta GEMS, Delta Academy, and EMBODI.
International Awareness & Involvement
The International Awareness and Involvement Committee is dedicated to developing community programs designed to provide assistance, relief, and a variety of resources to developing countries through strategic partnerships. Additionally, the committee seeks to foster local education and advocacy on contemporary social justice issues.
Physical and Mental Health
The Physical and Mental Health Committee is dedicated to promoting wellness within our sorority and the broader community. It aims to implement the physical and mental health initiatives endorsed by the Grand Chapter locally, while also raising awareness and educating our members about health issues that disproportionately affect African American women.
Political Awareness & Involvement
The participation of our Founders in the Suffrage March for Women to Vote in March 1913 marked our organization’s first act of social action, establishing a legacy that resonates today. Social Action is a core element of our organization The Political Awareness and Involvement Committee focuses on developing, planning, and implementing social action initiatives and programs in the community to foster social awareness civic engagement.
